2023 Day 189 – 2 Kings 15; 2 Chronicles 26
Uzziah was following God when he started his reign as king. “And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.” (2 Chronicles 26:4) But as God continued to bless him, Uzziah’s attitude changed. “But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the LORD his God and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.” (2 Chronicles 26:16) Pride is one of Satan’s best tools and one of the things God dislikes most. “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” (Proverbs 16:5) James advises us on how to keep from becoming too prideful in ourselves. “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:6-7)
