The short book of Obadiah is the prophecy that God gave to him to share.  It begins with talk about what will happen to Edom.  “The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’” (Obadiah 1:3)  There are many instances in the Holy Scripture that explain to us God’s dislike for a haughty attitude.  “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” (Proverbs 16:5)  “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” (James 4:6)  It is easy to get an arrogant attitude sometimes, but James lets us know what the reward will be for staying humble.  “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” (James 4:10)
