2020 Day 327 – Ezekiel 7-9 and Psalms 142

David spoke of the temporary nature of our life on this earth.  “Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.” (Psalms 144:4)  Job made similar comparisons and also shared the viewpoint of a man who suffered much in his life.  “My days are swifter than a runner; they flee away; they see no good.” (Job 9:25)  “Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble. He comes out like a flower and withers; he flees like a shadow and continues not.” (Job 14:1-2)  Paul encouraged the Corinthians, and us as well, to look past these current temporary sufferings and focus our energy on preparing our soul for an eternal life with our God.  “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
