2020 Day 215 – 1 Samuel 16-18 and Psalms 32

God had selected someone to become king after Saul and He sent Samuel to anoint that person.  All he told Samuel was that the new king was a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite.  When Samuel saw Jesse’s first born son Eliab, he assumed that he was the one.  “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1Samuel 16:7)  David was chosen, but he was the last son that was brought before Samuel.  It is easy to make assumptions about someone based on their appearance, but only God knows the full truth.  “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart.” (Proverbs 21:2)
