2020 Day 96 – 2 and 3 John and Psalms 96

In this short letter, John speaks of what it means to love.  “And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.” (2 John 1:5-6)  Jesus also spoke of how loving Him was more than just something we say.  “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)  He also spoke of what will happen when judgement comes if we have not done God’s Will in this life.  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” (Matthew 7:21-23)
