2020 Day 92 – 1 Peter 4-5 and Psalms 92

It is easy to have an ego that causes us to want to handle everything ourselves, but James and Peter both urge us to be humble unto God.  “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” (James 4:10)   “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)  Humbling ourselves before God means we acknowledge His power and our deep and constant need for His love and help.  Jesus encourages us to make that humble plea to Him.  “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
