2020 Day 79 – 1 Timothy 4-6 and Psalms 79

Doctors make recommendations that we get some exercise to help improve our health.  In his first letter to Timothy, Paul explains that there is something even better for us.  “for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8)  Then he tells what we should add along with godliness.  “But godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6)  The material blessings of this world are nice, but focusing on them too much can cause us problems.  “for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” (1 Timothy 6:7-9)
